Privacy policy
Effective 27 October 2026
The short version
- Your app time (minutes and app names) is read and shown on your phone only. It never reaches us or your friends.
- Private goals and their check-ins are seen by you alone.
- Friends see only what you share with them: your name, your avatar, and the goals and Focus sessions you've chosen to show them.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we don't sell your data.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time, and it's removed straight away.
Who we are
WithMe (“we”, “us”) makes the WithMe app for iPhone and Android, a small accountability app for close friends. This policy covers the app and this website. Questions go to [email protected].
What we collect
We collect only what the app needs to work. All of it is linked to your account.
| What | Why | Who else can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Email address and password (the password is stored only as a secure hash) | Signing in and resetting your password | Nobody |
| Display name and avatar | Showing who you are | Friends you've accepted |
| Phone number, if you add one | Shown on your account page only. It isn't used to find contacts | Nobody |
| Friend code and friendships | Adding friends | The friendship itself is visible to both of you |
| Goals, schedules, check-ins and notes | The core of the app | Only people a goal is shared with. Private goals: nobody |
| Photos you attach to check-ins | Showing what you did, for goals that use photos | That goal's audience, for 90 days after posting |
| Cheers, nudges and reviews | Social features | The people involved |
| Focus sessions: start, end and an optional goal | Letting friends see you're focusing | The audience you choose, Friends or Private. Never which apps you picked or how long you used them |
| Reports you make | Keeping people safe | Never shown to the person reported |
| Push token and an installation identifier | Sending notifications to the right phone | Nobody |
| Time zone and notification preferences | Getting your days and quiet hours right | Nobody |
Photos are re-encoded when they're uploaded, which strips location and other metadata, and they're kept in private storage that only the right people can open.
What stays on your phone
- App time. On Android, WithMe uses Usage Access to read how long you spend in apps. On iPhone, it uses Apple's Screen Time. Minutes and app names are shown on your device only and are never sent to us, to friends or to anyone else.
- The apps you choose to block. Your choice stays on the phone. On Android, blocking uses an Accessibility service that looks only at which app is in front. It never reads what's on the screen.
- Your sign-in. Your session is kept encrypted with a key in your phone's Keychain or Keystore.
What we don't collect
No advertising identifiers, no analytics or crash-reporting tools, no location, no contacts, no health data, no purchase history and no browsing history. We don't track you across other apps or websites. This website sets no cookies, has no analytics and loads nothing from other sites, with one exception: the Events page loads Luma's registration button. If you register for an event, you do it with Luma, under Luma's own privacy policy. If you sign in on the website, it keeps your sign-in in your browser's storage and talks to our server directly; signing out removes it.
How we use your information
Only to run WithMe: to sign you in, show your goals, share what you've chosen to share, send notifications you've allowed, and act on reports. We don't use it for advertising or profiling, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase hosts our database, sign-in and photo storage.
- Expo delivers push notifications, when you've allowed them. It receives your phone's push token, an installation identifier and the notification itself.
They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes. Your information may be processed in countries other than yours. Everything is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).
How long we keep it
- Your information is kept while you have an account.
- Photos stop being shown 90 days after they're posted.
- When you delete your account, your profile, goals, check-ins, photos, friendships and Focus history are deleted immediately. Shared goals you created are deleted for everyone in them. If a photo file can't be removed at once, it's retried until it is.
- Reports are kept after an account is deleted, so that safety problems can still be dealt with. Once the account is gone, a report refers to it only by a random ID.
- Copies in our providers' routine backups may last a short while longer before they expire.
See Delete your account for the steps.
Your choices and rights
- Change what each goal shares, and whether Focus is shown to Friends or kept Private.
- Mute, block or report anyone. They aren't told.
- Turn notifications off in the app or in your phone's settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
WithMe isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child under 13 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change affects what we collect or who sees it, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
